Even if you don’t have income to report, or haven’t filed for a few years, filling out a tax return is the smart thing to do. Ontario has new benefits — but you need to file your tax return to get them:

Up to $1,000 for families, or $300 for single people, in new Ontario Sales Tax Transition Benefit payments.

Up to $260 a year for each member of your family from the new Ontario Sales Tax Credit.

Up to $1,000, per family or single person, from the combined Ontario Property and Sales Tax Credits.

Up to $1,100 a year per child from the Ontario Child Benefit.
